What if Einstein had not closed a chapter of physics, but had simply created the conditions to open a new one?<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Griffith University, along with colleagues at the \"National Measurement Institute\"(NMI), plans to find a practical fit to a theory published in 2016 by physicist <strong>Joan Vaccaro<\/strong>, which proposes a revolutionary interpretation of time as a violation of <strong>natural symmetries<\/strong>. Her theory is exemplified by the description provided by Michael Irving (New Atlas), which emphasizes the following analogy:<\/p>\n<p><em><span dir=\"ltr\">\u201c<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Joan <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Vaccar<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">or <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">uses the analogy of a tree blowing in the wind<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u2014<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">while the leaves (entropy) may <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">appear to be shaking the tree, they aren\u2019t responsible for the motion themselves, but are the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">result of an<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">other force (wind). In this new theory, the &#8216;wind&#8217; is created by time reversal symmetry <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">violations (T violations).\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The particles involved in the investigation are <strong>neutrinos<\/strong>, fascinating corpuscular entities, but shrouded in mystery. Peter Debye, a Dutch physicist, defined the ambiguity of neutrinos as follows:<\/p>\n<p><em><span dir=\"ltr\">&lt;&lt;<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Neutrinos? \u201dOh, that\u2019s a problem like new taxes, one had best not think about it at all\u201d<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">.&gt;&gt;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Neutrinos, in their basic dichotomy, will be the protagonists of a new current of thought, that for the first time doesn't recognize in time the <strong>effect<\/strong> of entropy of Universe, but the <strong>cause<\/strong>. In particular, the experiment will aim to reveal a time dilation on quantum scale. It is based on the idea that neutrinos are able to interfere with time as if the latter was a physical entity <strong>in itself<\/strong>, exhibiting a violation of symmetry as a result of interference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The experiment, based in Sydney, involves the generation of a stream of anti-neutrinos by the <strong>OPAL<\/strong> reactor, made available by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO); in addition, two clocks will be placed at different distances from the reactor core.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20390\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20390\" style=\"width: 584px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-20390 size-full\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"328\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2.jpg 584w, https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2-500x281.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2-16x9.jpg 16w, https:\/\/www.vgen.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/tempo_2-480x270.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20390\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The OPAL reactor of the Autralian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">According to the theory, the measurement performed by a clock would depend on the symmetry violation suffered locally and the time dilation on the distance from the nucleus. The nearest clock (placed at 5 meters) would then reveal a <strong>non-synchronous<\/strong> measurement compared to the other (placed at 10 meters).<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The clocks involved in the experiment will be cesium atomic clocks, chosen for their high accuracy and precision in detecting small effects on quantum scale. Prerequisite in order not to compromise the reliability of the experiment is that neutrinos and clocks are placed in the same <strong>physical-environmental<\/strong> conditions, because, otherwise, the particles could undergo changes (for example related to temperature). The difficulty of the experiment, in fact, is the unpredictability of the environment, in contrast with the controllability of an experiment conducted in the laboratory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The experiment has been defined a '<strong>high risk<\/strong>' by one of the collaborators, because it crosses the threshold of the temporal-quantum unknown: if the measurements, collected for six months, were to confirm the initial theory, would show that matter-neutrino interactions depend on time and not only on the weak nuclear force: in this case, it would be necessary to find a '<strong>number<\/strong>' that estimates how significant is the quantum effect on time itself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In conclusion, the experiment could bring to the forefront the fact that the dynamics observed every day are not part of nature, but phenomenological occurrences that occur under certain conditions of symmetry violation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Is it nature that creates time or time that creates nature?
