This number hides other secrets: a spy is the work conducted by Hans-Henrik Stolum<\/b>, a mathematician who in 1996 published on Science<\/i> a revolutionary theory, which justified the flow of streams and rivers<\/b> in the light of a particular internal geometric self-organization, which estimated an average sinuosity<\/b> attributable precisely to 3.14. This would imply that the actual length of a river from source to mouth and the length as the crow flies is rather close to the number pi, which therefore can serve as a legitimate approximation.<\/p>\n
The phantom \"hunger\" for pi has fed the growing curiosity of the purely scientific world, according to which this number seems to hold the key to the understanding of the Universe: the Gaussian distribution<\/b> with its \"bell\" trend, the periodic functions sine and cosine, a pendulum that swings and everything that remembers, even remotely, some circular form, reveals a proportionality with respect to this number, which seems to contain the peculiar characteristics of the essence of each element.<\/p>\n
Pi lands with surprise also in the musical sphere: is there a language of transit<\/b> that legitimizes the passage from the world of mathematics to the world of symphonies? Daniel MacDonald tried to act as a messenger of this dimension by associating to each digit of the number pi a note in the A minor scale and then played the melody with his right hand while the harmony was created by the left hand, giving a musicality to the number. The result is shocking: one discovers a balance that governs the entire composition and betrays an intimate, deep, almost natural interconnection, despite pi is not.<\/p>\n
This famous number, therefore, has an iconic<\/b> value: it is the emblem of a harmony that explains itself, of an expedient that is able to simplify life and to complicate it. Perhaps pi is a little bit in each of us, in some form, in some interest, in some expressive mode that no one has ever invented and to which no composition, no music, no book has yet given voice.<\/p>\n
But the need to discover, to pry, does not have a preferred direction, just as in general a phenomenon that is distributed randomly in the plane will not have preferred directions in which to expand ... and even here, if we evaluated the expected value of the distribution, we would find a proportionality with 2 pi<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the key to it all is right here: won't curiosity about pi itself be pi?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
